This golf specific medicine ball throw is an excellent exercise for golfers looking to increase club head speed.
In the video I explain how the biomechanics of force production in this throw closely match the golf swing.
This is one of few exercises that I think is “specific enough” to positively influence swing mechanics and club head speed simultaneously.
I include it in many of the programs on the Fit For Golf App.
I also provide substitution options with a golf club or broomstick handle for those who can’t throw medicine balls.
Exercise Recommendations
Reps per set: 6 to 8 each side
No of sets: 3 to 4
Frequency: 2 to 3 times per week, can be included in any workout
Ball weight: 2 to 6lbs (too heavy and the technique suffers)
